Music Trivia Chat - Name That Tune !

G'day Guys,

A while back in chat, we used to have a kind of dress up party for special events....such as a regular members birthday, or halloween, etc etc. At these "Chat Partys" i played DJ - just an array of popular tunes. One night i opened up my 80's playlist and we made a game of it, which we called "Name that tune"...

With the amount of fun that has been had at Pagan's Sex Trivia night, a few people have asked if i could do another "Name that tune" night. So, i'm throwing it out there to see if there's enough interest. I've contacted FF management and they are happy for me to hold/run these events on a monthly basis, if there's enough interest.

The way the game is played is this: Everyone in chat will need to click on my cam so they can hear my audio - dont be scared, i'll hide behind some cam effects :-P

I play a tune, and the first person to type the name of the SONG and ARTIST/BAND in the one line earns the point. It must be typed on the ONE LINE to score the point. So no use typing "Police".... then after you remember the name of the song type in "Roxxane" after. It must be on one line, like so: Police - Roxanne. Think strategically, if you can remember the band name but not the track name, dont type anything, coz someone on the other team might know the song, but not the band - so if you type, you could give them the info they need.

It's a lot of fun, and brings back a lot of memories for us old farts that were around in the 80's :( Even if you weren't around in the 80's, you'll still have a great time.

It will be Boys against Girls, just like Pagans trivia night, and i'm thinking first team to 25 correct answers wins. Boys will use Green avatars, and Girls use pink. If you dont know how to change your avatar - they are located down near where you type (in chat) just beside the smileys.

I'm thinking about making it a monthly event - say the first Saturday of every month? I know a lot of people actually have lives, and go out on saturday, so if a friday night would be better then cast your vote in a reply to this blog. A week night would be difficult for us on daylight savings time because we'd have to start it at about 10pm to accomodate those in the west - that would make it a fairly late night for those that have to work the next day :(

So, First Saturday of the month starting at 10pm (daylight savings time) in the back room. Click reply and let me know what you think. Majority will have to rule. Oh, and of course you'll need to have speakers on your PC.

PS: It wont always be 80's music, in the future we can have themes such as 60's, 70's, 90's, aussie rock etc etc.

Well, the first music trivia night has been run and won. Congrats go out to the GIRLS team, who were too good for the boys team winning a hotly contestest game. Final score was Boys 17, Girls 20. The numbers per side were nice and even too, pretty much 50 - 50 the whole night. Thanks everyone who attended, it was great to see so many Flingers having a bit of fun with the room counter ticking above the 30 a few times, but consistantly in the high 20's.

Next month will be hits from the 70's .... dont miss it !!

PS: apologies for the few tracks in last nights game that were not actually hits from the 80's. I just googled 80's hits and chose a bunch of songs that i knew from the lists and downloaded them...  i didnt research any further, i simply trusted the lists. If you want your entry fee for the game back, i'd be happy to refund you :-P
