Too Far
I've been speaking with a former member from around my area recently. She was only on for about a week, long enough to get an onslaught of 'Get your cans out' from the vast majority of respondants. Par for the course, really.
The problem occurred, however, when someone from the site managed to track her down at work. Something about, "I wanted to find out whether you really were an [occupation]."
That is completely inappropriate. The member in question, I'm reliably informed, has been blacklisted. The police were called, and she's been left extremely shaken over the experience.
I'm disgusted to be associated with a community where such a thing occurs, even if it's the 'one in a thousand' case. It's antics such as that which give online dating communities a (generally) bad reputation in the community.
It's not just that it's generally stalker-ish to do so, either, there was an Unfortunate Consequence that came out of the situation, and a rather large one. The actions of this particular member have cost her, in real terms, about $5000 due to the loss of a work contract, caused principally by this person.
I hope you're pleased with yourself.

-I have been receiving text messages by an ex member of this site for over a year now... he still sends me insults about once a week all becos I dared to reject him. This guy is no longer with the site so it does happen.
Unfortunately, the site is not responsible for every nut case that comes on here. All you can do is be vigilant in not sharing personal details until you are entirely sure they are a decent person. I was fortunate this person only had my mobile number so I was lucky. I am sorry to hear that another nutcase has done this to some else. :(

Broomfield, VIC, AUOh, absolutely. Everyone that I've talked to on here is lovely, but there's just that 'one in a thousand' that'll do the wrong thing. She followed standard Internet safety, too; she didn't mention her company, only her occupation, and somehow that leads to a stalker turning up at her work. Truly frightening stuff.
